Rear-ell kitchens and exterior walls
An ell kitchen usually has the appliance run along an outside wall. In January that helps and in July it does not: the wall behind the condenser is being warmed by the sun for half the afternoon, and a unit that has been marginal all along will pick that window to lose temperature. A complaint that repeats at the same time of day is a genuine clue and worth mentioning on the call.
Conversions with millimetre-fitted cabinetry
New condo kitchens here are built to European integrated dimensions, with the door panel supplied by the cabinetmaker rather than the appliance maker. Those panels are heavy. A hinge that was set correctly on the day carries that weight for years and then starts to sag, which presents first as a warm corner in the fresh-food compartment rather than as a door problem. Checking seal contact along the hinge edge with a strip of paper takes ten seconds and settles it.
Parking, permits and the practical bit
Most of the residential streets are permit-only and many houses have no driveway. It does not affect the repair, but it affects the time, and it is the reason the van is loaded for the fault described on the phone rather than for every possibility.
