Noise is a diagnosis, if you listen at the right moment
A quiet appliance makes noise informative. A note that rises and falls with the fan is a fan; a rattle that appears only in the minutes after a defrost is usually a blade touching ice; a low hum that comes through the cabinetry rather than through the air is a compressor whose isolation mounts have hardened; and a knock at fill is the water valve. Identifying which of those it is happens by listening through a full cycle rather than by opening the door and guessing.
Seals and the flush installation
Integrated doors sit flush with the cabinet fronts around them, so a door that has dropped a millimetre or two is invisible and consequential. The gasket stops making contact along one edge, humid room air enters continuously, and the compartment develops a warm corner while the display insists everything is fine. The paper test settles it in under a minute.
Wine storage
Dual-zone Miele cabinets separate their zones by damper or by a second circuit, and when both zones converge on the same reading that separation has failed. Which mechanism the cabinet uses determines the cost of putting it right, so it is established before a number is given rather than after.

The cabinet warmed whenever the room did, which came down to a condenser sitting two inches off a finished wall with no gap at all. He rebuilt the surround for airflow instead of selling us a new unit.
