Dacor Error Codes: What They Mean and What to Do
Dacor has used several very different control generations, from simple seven-segment displays to full touchscreen panels, and the codes are not consistent between them. So the first honest thing to say about a Dacor code is that the model plate decides what it means — a code list for the wrong generation is worse than no list at all.

Find the plate before you look anything up
On refrigeration the model and serial number are usually on a plate inside the fresh-food compartment, on a side wall or behind the top drawer. On cooking appliances it is on a frame edge visible when the door is open, or behind a bottom drawer. Getting the full model string — not just "Dacor 36 inch" — is what turns a code from a guess into a fact.
What the code is telling you, in general terms
Across generations the families are consistent even when the numbering is not. A code will point at a temperature sensor circuit, a fan or motor circuit, a heater or element circuit, a door or lock circuit, a water or ice circuit, or communication between two boards. It reports the circuit the control is unhappy with. It does not identify which item in that circuit has failed, and on a modern appliance that circuit typically contains a component, a harness, a connector and a board input.
Before you call anybody
- Photograph the display rather than transcribing it — an E and an F, a 5 and an S are easy to confuse and the difference matters
- Note what the appliance is actually doing, independently of what it says
- Check whether the code returns after a power cycle, and how long it takes to come back
- Have the full model and serial number to hand
Scope, plainly
This shop covers the cold side of a kitchen. Dacor refrigeration falls inside that; Dacor ranges, ovens and cooktops do not, and a code on one of those needs somebody who works on cooking equipment. This page is written to be useful either way.

A comparable built-in refrigerator, appliance only — before delivery, installation, custom panels or cabinetry work. Undercounter and wine units sit below this band; a column replacement is usually two purchases rather than one.
What moves a job inside its band
Which circuit failed
A door seal, a fan motor, a defrost heater and a sealed system sit at very different points on the same range. What failed decides most of the figure before anything else does.
Whether the part is still made
A current platform part arrives in days. A superseded board or a discontinued evaporator means a supersession lookup and a longer wait, and that shows up in the quote honestly.
What it takes to reach it
A hillside house with the unit backed onto an exterior wall, or a column boxed in by a stone counter, is more work to open than a unit that rolls forward. Access is quoted, not discovered.
One trip or two
If the part is on the van it finishes that day. If not, the return is inside the quoted figure rather than added to it afterwards.
