Dacor Error Codes: What They Mean and What to Do

Find the plate before you look anything up

On refrigeration the model and serial number are usually on a plate inside the fresh-food compartment, on a side wall or behind the top drawer. On cooking appliances it is on a frame edge visible when the door is open, or behind a bottom drawer. Getting the full model string — not just "Dacor 36 inch" — is what turns a code from a guess into a fact.

What the code is telling you, in general terms

Across generations the families are consistent even when the numbering is not. A code will point at a temperature sensor circuit, a fan or motor circuit, a heater or element circuit, a door or lock circuit, a water or ice circuit, or communication between two boards. It reports the circuit the control is unhappy with. It does not identify which item in that circuit has failed, and on a modern appliance that circuit typically contains a component, a harness, a connector and a board input.

Before you call anybody

• Photograph the display rather than transcribing it — an E and an F, a 5 and an S are easy to confuse and the difference matters
• Note what the appliance is actually doing, independently of what it says
• Check whether the code returns after a power cycle, and how long it takes to come back
• Have the full model and serial number to hand

Scope, plainly

This shop covers the cold side of a kitchen. Dacor refrigeration falls inside that; Dacor ranges, ovens and cooktops do not, and a code on one of those needs somebody who works on cooking equipment. This page is written to be useful either way.
