Cove Dishwashers: The Faults That Come Up

A Cove is a quiet, slow, thorough dishwasher, and most complaints about one come down to a misunderstanding of that design or to the water path. Knowing which of the two you have saves a service call.

Cove is the dishwasher brand of the Sub-Zero Group, which is why this page sits on a Sub-Zero site. Sub-Zero Repair Winchester services refrigeration only — refrigerators, freezers, ice makers and wine cabinets — and does not repair dishwashers. This page is reference material, kept because people were finding it.

Flat $95 service call — the trip and the diagnosis — credited against the repair if you approve one. 8:00 am – 8:00 pm, seven days.

A long cycle is usually the machine working

These machines are deliberately unhurried: a full cycle with the drying phase can run for hours, and the sensor-driven programmes extend themselves when the load needs it. That is normal and it is the price of the results and the noise level. A cycle that has genuinely stalled behaves differently — it stops advancing, water sits in the tub, and nothing changes over an hour.

Water left in the tub

Standing water at the end of a cycle is a drainage problem and the causes run in a predictable order: the filter assembly at the base of the tub, which needs removing and rinsing more often than most owners expect; the drain hose and its high loop; the air gap or disposal connection at the sink, which is a frequent culprit and nothing to do with the dishwasher itself; and only then the drain pump.

Doors, seals and leaks

A leak at the front of a machine is nearly always the door gasket or the alignment of the door against it, not a failure inside. Detergent that foams excessively will also push water past a perfectly good seal, so what went in the dispenser is a fair question before anything is dismantled.

Book the visit

If the appliance in trouble is the Sub-Zero rather than the dishwasher beside it, that is a call this shop does take.
