More units, and more of them integrated
A kitchen with a refrigerator column and a freezer column beside it behaves differently from one appliance with two compartments. Each column has its own sealed system, its own evaporator and its own control, so a fault on one side is genuinely local — the freezer failing tells you almost nothing about the refrigerator next to it. It also means the diagnosis has to start by establishing which cabinet is actually misbehaving, because in a run of matched panels the display that is complaining is not always the one with the problem.
The basement unit
The second refrigerator in a finished lower level or a garage is the one that fails most often and gets noticed last. Two reasons. It runs in a space that swings much further in temperature than a kitchen, which pushes a control that was designed for a heated room; and it is opened rarely, so a door left fractionally proud can sit like that for a week. If a basement unit is icing at the back wall, the ambient temperature down there is part of the answer.
Wine cabinets and their own set of complaints
Dual-zone storage separates its two halves either with a damper or with a second evaporator circuit. When both zones start reading the same, that separation has stopped working, and which of the two designs is in the cabinet decides the size of the job. It gets identified before anything is quoted rather than after.

Fill tube frozen shut for the second winter running. Instead of blaming the house temperature he tested the mould heater, found it weak, and replaced it. The fault has not come back at all.
